Norman and Jill from Dinky’s Ice Cream Parlor | Taking a Chance on a Delicious Business

On this week’s episode we have Norman and Jill Matthews, owners of Dinky’s Ice Cream  Parlor and Grille.
Dinky’s was started when Norman, or Dinky (we’ll get in to that) hurt his back and wasn’t going to continue being a trucker. Jill gave him a book to write his ideas and the rest is history.
We talk about the struggles they’ve faced not only during covid, but also opening two locations in the Lehigh Valley, their original in Bangor and now on E 3rd Street in south Bethlehem.
Dinky’s is a 50’s style ice cream parlor and burger joint. Both locations are sure to put a smile on your face!

Nancy (Nan) Tollino, is a certified Canine Behavioral Expert and Professional Dog Trainercreator and founder of Peace In The Pack. She is a graduate of the Animal Behavior College and member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP)
 
She has been rescuing and rehabilitating dogs for the past twenty years. Her vision is to save lives by empowering people with the knowledge to meet their dogs’ physical and psychological needs so that dogs may maintain their homes and reduce the chance of tragically returning to shelters due to lack of information and communication.
 
She has successfully rehabilitated many dogs who were sadly considered unadoptable and are now living healthy, happy well-balanced lives.

Adrian Shanker | “Bodies and Barriers: Queer Activists on Health”

On this week’s episode, I talk to Adrian Shanker, Founder and Executive Director of the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. We talk about the upcoming book he edited and contributed to, “Bodies and Barriers: Queer Activists on Health” which tackles the pervasive health issues queer people experience throughout their lives through artfully articulated, data-informed essays by twenty-six activists.

“Bodies and Barriers” has been named by NBC News as one of “10 LGBTQ books to watch out for in 2020” and includes a foreword by Rachel L. Levine, M.D., currently the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health, and an afterword by Kate Kendell who, for 24 years, led National Center for Lesbian Rights as their Executive Director.
