Anna, a Liberty High School senior, also led trail work including graffiti remediation, bridge repainting, and trash cleanups in order to revitalize the existing walking trail her virtual content is attached to.
Anna’s walking trail and self guided tour are located on Burnside Plantation’s portion of the Monocacy Way Trail and can be accessed by visitors at any time.

Initially started in the Lehigh Valley as an affiliate council through Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries in 2007, GOTRLV’s growth and expansion have led it to become an independent council directly through Girls on the Run International, with its own 501(c)3 non-profit status. Since beginning the program in the Lehigh Valley, GOTRLV has grown from 45 participants in its first year to over 800 participants in 2021-22 school year.
“We are proud to establish ourselves as an independent council,” said Liz Fones, Executive Director for GOTRLV. “We are grateful to Diakon for being our founding sponsor and our home for the last 15 years, and we are excited to see our growth continue as we work to reach as many girls as possible in our community.”
The mission of Girls on the Run is to ́inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running”. The program combines training for a non-competitive 5K event with life-changing lessons to enhance self-esteem, social, emotional and physical health. GOTRLV programs are for all girls, with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion as a priority in the organization’s strategic goals.
As a result of increased growth, the GOTRLV Board of Directors is also expanding its membership and seeking diverse applicants committed to the mission of inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident.
