Lehigh Valley with Love ComedyPlatz Brings the Funny Back to Musikfest on August 10 and 11

Posted On July 27, 2018 By lvwithlove In Blog, Press Release /

The Lehigh Valley with Love ComedyPlatz is returning to Musikfest with two free nights of stand-up comedy on August 10 and 11 at The Ice House on 56 River Street.

In its second year as an official Musikfest venue, The Lehigh Valley with Love ComedyPlatz will feature more than 30 comics.

Highlights include:

  • Django Gold, a writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, formerly for The Onion.
  • Molly Mulshine, Galore’s senior editor, writing and editing stories about sex & dating, pop culture, feminism.
  • Bryan Yang, named by BuzzFeed as one of their “Top 14 Comedians You Should Be Paying Attention To”.
  • Rhonda Hansome, who has appeared on Saturday Night Live, Caroline’s Comedy Hour, Stand-Up Spotlight, Arsenio Hall, Evening at the Improv, Showtime at the Apollo, and The Joan Rivers Show as her movie reviewer.
  • Chanel Ali, who has opened for nationally touring comedians like Rachel Feinstein, Anna Drezen and Michael Che.
  • And some of the Lehigh Valley’s best comics.

Shows are 7, 8:45 and 10:30 p.m. both August 10 and 11. Tickets are not needed for the shows. More than 200 comics applied to be a part of this year’s ComedyPlatz, with an ArtsQuest and local comedy committee making the final selections.

Lehigh Valley with Love ComedyPlatz is the culmination of a partnership between Nazareth-born comedian Tyler Rothrock, Lehigh Valley with Love owner George Wacker and ArtsQuest.

“I’m really looking forward to this year’s ComedyPlatz,” said Rothrock, who will also be performing. “We keep growing and this year’s shows are packed full of super funny comics.”

“We are excited to build on the success of last year’s inaugural ComedyPlatz with what we believe is an even better lineup full of talented comics,” said Ryan Hill, ArtsQuest Programming Director. “Musikfest continues to evolve the ways in which it entertains the nearly one million people that come through the festival every year. With ComedyPlatz now firmly added to the comedy that’s been happening at the ArtsQuest Center for the past seven years, and Jim Gaffigan headlining the Sands Steel Stage, it’s apparent that comedy is becoming a cornerstone of the ‘fest experience.”
