Hellertown Historical Society Seeks Colonial Artisans for Heritage Day 2026

Posted On March 11, 2026 By lvwithlove In Blog, Community News /

The Hellertown Historical Society is looking for additional colonial-period artisans and demonstrators to take part in Heritage Day 2026, scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Hellertown. The annual event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will take place at Grist Mill Park and the nearby Michael Heller Homestead as part of an expanded footprint for this year’s celebration.

Those interested are asked to email info@hhstours.org

This year’s Heritage Day will highlight early American life in recognition of the United States’ 250th anniversary. Organizers are seeking craftspeople whose work reflects colonial or early American styles, especially those creating practical, period-appropriate goods using wood, metal, leather, textiles, fibers, plants, paper, beeswax, and similar materials.

Examples include blacksmithing, tinsmithing, candle making, woodworking, leatherwork, paper arts, and botanical arts.

According to the Historical Society, artisans should be prepared to demonstrate and interpret their work for the public. Period attire is encouraged. Booth space is free, and participating artisans may keep all proceeds from their sales. Applicants are expected to bring their own canopy, tables, and chairs.

Heritage Day is an annual celebration of the history and culture of Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township. In addition to artisan demonstrations, the 2026 event is expected to feature living historians, music, children’s activities, tours, tavern talks, horse-drawn wagon rides, antique and classic automobiles, food, and more. Interested artisans can learn more or apply through the Hellertown Historical Society’s Heritage Day event page and vendor application.
