The Baum School of Art is celebrating 100 years in Allentown with The Baum Legacy: A Centennial Exhibition, a look at the artists, students and family members connected to founder Walter Emerson Baum.
Running September 17 through October 17, the exhibition features more than 100 pieces of artwork across the school’s three new galleries and explores Baum’s influence as both an artist and an educator.
The exhibition brings together work by Walter Baum alongside members of his family, former students and other artists whose work reflects his lasting impact.
Among the artists featured are Edgar Baum, Harvey Baum, Marian Baum Grim, Nolan P. Benner, Jr., John E. Berninger, Clarence Dreisbach, Lee Everett, Ellen Grim Harter, R. Charlotte Treichler Harris, Ann Elaine Harris, Walter Mattern, Grace Whitehead Phillips, D. A. Scheiber, Richard Schantz, Alvena Seckar, Melville Stark, Bette Treichler, Jerry Quier, Ann Yost Whitesell, Jeanne Wolf and Kenneth Wolf.

Visitors will see a wide range of styles and subjects throughout the exhibition, including wildlife carvings by Harvey Baum, surreal animal works by Edgar Baum, landscapes by Ann Yost Whitesell and an assortment of work by Walter Emerson Baum.
Together, the more than 100 works offer a look at how Baum’s influence extended through his family, his students and generations of artists connected to the school.
The Baum School of Art continues to build on Baum’s belief that art is essential, that anyone can make art and that everyone should have the opportunity to learn.
