Black Canvas Poetry to Host Invitational Slam in Bethlehem

Posted On March 18, 2026 By lvwithlove In Blog, Community News /

Black Canvas Poetry is set to bring a night of live spoken word to Bethlehem with the Black Canvas Poetry Invitational Slam on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event will be held at The Ice House, 56 River St, Bethlehem, PA.

The invitational will feature a bracket-style poetry slam, with poets competing head-to-head in what promises to be a lively evening of performance, storytelling, and community connection. The night will also open with a special appearance by students from “Spittin Truth,” a poetry club from Louis E. Dieruff High School, spotlighting emerging voices from the Lehigh Valley.

Founded to create spaces for artists to share stories and build community, Black Canvas Poetry continues to expand opportunities for spoken word artists across the region. Organizers say the invitational is designed not only to showcase local and regional talent, but also to strengthen the presence of spoken word poetry in the Lehigh Valley.
