We made the trip to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, for Blobfest, one of our favorite festivals and a weekend dedicated to celebrating the 1958 cult classic The Blob.

A highlight is the famous run-out at the Colonial Theatre, recreating one of the movie’s most memorable scenes right where it was filmed. Downtown Phoenixville gets into the spirit, too, with decorations, local businesses, restaurants, and plenty to explore throughout the weekend.

We stayed at the Mainstay Inn in downtown Phoenixville, putting us right in the middle of the action. Throughout the weekend, we checked out vendors featuring local artists along with horror and sci-fi enthusiasts who travel from all over to be part of Blobfest. The Colonial Theatre also hosts movie screenings throughout the festival, and we caught Big Top Pee-Wee.

After exploring the festival, visiting downtown businesses, and taking in everything Blobfest had to offer, I finished the weekend by running a half marathon. From The Blob and the Colonial Theatre to the artists, vendors, movies, restaurants, and downtown Phoenixville itself, Blobfest continues to be one of those festivals we look forward to visiting.

Thanks to everyone who puts it together and makes the weekend such a great time. We’ll definitely be back.
