Touchstone Theatre Presents Annual Fresh Voices Performance in Bethlehem

Posted On May 13, 2026 By lvwithlove In Community News /

Touchstone Theatre will present its annual Fresh Voices production, featuring original work by first-year Moravian University and Touchstone Theatre Master of Fine Arts students.

This year’s performance, Fresh Voices: Past, Present, Future, will run June 5, 2026, at 8 p.m. and June 6, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Touchstone’s black box theatre in Southside Bethlehem. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Will.

Created by MFA students Jolie Lanning and Anisa Hosseini, the production is a triptych of original work exploring the past, present, and future of womanhood. The performance includes two solo pieces and one collaborative work, connected by themes of female empowerment.

Hosseini’s solo piece, Introducing Ṭáhirih, focuses on Ṭáhirih, the Persian poet and women’s rights advocate, while also exploring the perspective of an American-born Iranian college student and the experiences of women in Iran during the Qajar Dynasty.

Lanning’s solo work, PERIOD., examines puberty, menstruation, and the pressures faced by young people in the age of social media. The performance will coincide with a period product drive benefiting S.T.A.R. Bethlehem and the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT+ Center.

The evening concludes with footage from In the Future, Girls Can…, a youth empowerment initiative for girls ages 9 to 14 centered on creativity, community, and imagining the future through art and play.

Fresh Voices began more than 20 years ago as part of Touchstone’s apprenticeship program and now serves as a capstone project for first-year MFA candidates.

The performance is recommended for audiences 13 and older. Touchstone suggests reviewing the content warning on its website before deciding whether the production is appropriate for younger audience members.
