On Friday, March 6, the Gap Theatre is celebrating its first anniversary by recreating the spirit of its opening night with a 35mm double feature, then closing out with a true midnight movie.
The theatre’s team says the past year has been nonstop, in the best way.
“Our first year has been incredibly busy, with over 600 movies screened,” they said.
“It’s been such a wild ride getting our footing and establishing ourselves as one of the many great theatres in the Lehigh Valley, while developing cohesive programming that has something for everyone to enjoy.”
“We’ve learned so much in the last 365 days, and it has been extraordinarily rewarding serving our community with an eclectic program of films.”
And they’re not slowing down.
“As far as our second year, we’re looking forward to bringing more film favorites, cult obscurities, live events, and everything in between to our screen.”
That mix is exactly what this anniversary night is aiming for. Early evening is pure blockbuster joy with Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on 35mm, the kind of crowd-pleaser pairing that reminds you why seeing movies with a room full of people still matters. Then at midnight, The Gap shifts into something stranger with David Lynch’s Eraserhead, also on 35mm, a perfect pick for anyone who likes their cinema a little weirder after dark.
