Historic Bethlehem opens holiday season with “Trees of Historic Bethlehem” retrospective and new baking exhibit

Posted On November 14, 2025 By lvwithlove In Community News /

Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites kicks off the 2025 holiday season today, Friday, Nov. 14, with the return of its beloved “Trees of Historic Bethlehem” exhibition and the debut of “Baked into Bethlehem.” One ticket covers both exhibits: $25 for adults, $23 for teachers and military, and $14 for ages 4+. Children 3 and under are free. Tickets are available at historicbethlehem.org.

This year’s Trees exhibition spotlights standout designs and themes from the past 20 years, staged across the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem, the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, and the Single Sisters’ House. Created with the Bethlehem Garden Club and community partners, the showcase celebrates the artistry and traditions that define Bethlehem’s holiday season.

“Baked into Bethlehem,” opening the same day at the Moravian Museum and the Kemerer, explores nearly three centuries of baking in Bethlehem; from early Moravian beehive ovens to the wedding and birthday cakes of the much-loved Groman’s bakery. The exhibit also nods to Groman’s enduring Sugar Cookies, still made for HBMS during the holidays.

Tours and experiences

  • Christmas City Stroll Walking Tour (begins Nov. 14): A guided walk through 280+ years of history, including the meaning of a candle in every window, beeswax candles, the Community Putz at Central Moravian Church, and the Moravian Star.

  • Bethlehem by Night Motorcoach Tour (begins Nov. 28): A citywide look at historic sites and traditions, including a visit to South Mountain to view the 91-foot Star of Bethlehem.

  • Spirits of Christmas Pub Walking Tour (begins Nov. 29): Story-filled stops at the Historic Sun Inn, McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub, and Lost Tavern in the Moravian Bookstore, concluding with Moravian Glühwein at Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
