Dylan Collazo Unveils Deeply Personal Self-Portrait Exhibition in Allentown

Posted On November 20, 2025 By lvwithlove In Community News /

Lehigh Valley artist Dylan Collazo, known for transforming lived experience into symbolic, narrative-driven portraiture, will debut his newest exhibition, When Eye Faced Myself, I Drew Blood, on November 28 at inkwell. in Allentown.

Rooted in Collazo’s approach to art as storytelling, legacy-building, and cultural reflection, the show uses self-portraiture to explore identity, trauma, and his Puerto Rican heritage. His paintings often function as portals, connecting personal history to broader human narratives.

Art, for me, is proof of life… how I measure time, how I document events, and how I reconcile the turbulence of my beginnings,” Collazo says. He describes this body of work as a deep excavation of memory: “By digging through trauma, I realized I was building something larger than myself: a doctrine, a legacy, a voice.”

The opening reception runs 6–9 p.m., featuring live music by Heartheaded, a performance by the GT3 Jazz Quartet, and a grazing table by A Couple Craves.

Situated just blocks from where he grew up, the exhibition doubles as a homecoming and a continuation of Collazo’s ongoing mission to connect personal experience, community history and visual storytelling.
