The Bethlehem Christmas Tree Toss for Charity Brings the Cheer on December 18 at 10 a.m.

The Lehigh Valley tradition raises money for Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley

BETHLEHEM, PA (December 7, 2022) – The fun and festive Bethlehem Christmas Toss for Charity will be held on Saturday, December 17 at 10 a.m. at More Miles Automotive, 1458 Stefko Blvd., Bethlehem, PA.

The original event was first held in 2002 when then Meineke Car Care owner Peter Kearns challenged Mike DeCrosta, currently of More Miles Automotive, to a contest. The resulting yearly tradition became something of a bizarre, but wildly popular, way to celebrate the holiday season. Peter Kearns unfortunately passed away in 2016, but his family continues to attend the event in his honor.

The event originally ended in 2013 after Kearns retired, but was revived in 2015 at the behest of fans and former participants.

“Pete is the one who came up with this wonderful idea and made sure that it was always in the spirit of raising money for charity,” DeCrosta said. “We want to continue to honor him by holding the event in his name.”

More Miles Automotive, in conjunction with Lehigh Valley with Love Media, will host the ‘Peter Kearns Memorial Christmas Tree Toss’ with proceeds going to Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley. The public is encouraged to attend and throw Christmas trees for distance in an effort to be this year’s champion! Children will also have a small tree to toss.  There will also be small giveaways and refreshments.

Donations of $5 per throw are encouraged. However, donations of all amounts are accepted and can be made in person at the event or by mailing a donation payable to Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley ℅ More Miles Automotive 1458 Stefko Blvd., Bethlehem, PA.

Ginger and The Schnappes Share the Love with All Original Jazz Record “Social Music”

Media Contact: maryellen450@gmail.com

BETHLEHEM, PA – Social Music, the first all original full length album release by Pennsylvania six piece jazz band Ginger and The Schnappes, is about reconnecting with the power of song.

“Social music is listening to the stereo, the cassette player, the radio, the concert or a streaming device with others and experiencing the music together. “Shh, listen, this is my favorite part,” and now your favorite part becomes your friend’s favorite part,” said Ginger Brew, the band’s stylish chanteuse.

“Social music is shared. Was there ever a better expression of your love for someone then to hand them your personally curated mix-tape? “Here, share my universe with me.”

Social Music is engaging and sometimes indicative of the band’s Pennsylvania roots; take the song 309 for instance. It’s about all the quirky and fun places along PA Route 309 from Philadelphia to Tunkhannock. If you’re from around there you’ll know those stops and end up sharing your own stories of trips along that road.

Watch Lehigh Valley with Love’s Video As Part of the #BacktoBethlehem Campaign!

The Bethlehem Chamber, Downtown Bethlehem Association, Southside Arts District and Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem have come together to launch the #BacktoBethlehem campaign as their counties move to the Yellow Phase.

This campaign is all about preparing both the merchants and the community for getting back to business. “We want to make sure our business community is equipped with all the information and supplies they need in order to safely re-open.” said Tammy Wendling, Downtown Bethlehem Association Manager.

In addition to making sure merchants are ready, Missy Hartney, Southside Arts District Downtown Manager says “it’s extremely important to make sure the community knows what expectations there will be for them as customers as well as making them feel comfortable with coming back out to support these small businesses.”

Bethlehem merchants have been asked to take the Vow of the Valley, launched by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. Those who sign the online vow, will receive a “Back to Bethlehem” graphic to use on social media and their website. This will let the community know these businesses took a pledge to protect their health and safety during this re-opening phase.

In addition to the Vow of the Valley, this task force partnered with Lehigh Valley with Love Media to create a video encouraging the community to come out and support Bethlehem businesses in the yellow phase.

As seen in the video, DLP Real Estate Capital and South Carolina based, SC Health generously donated 10,000 masks to the Bethlehem business community to ensure the safety of both employees and customers.
