Ready for another social media platform to “go live” from? Instagram recently announced that it is rolling out a live streaming feature included in Version 10.2 as another way for users to share their experiences.
What was once seemingly a novelty, “going live” has become increasingly commonplace on platforms like Facebook. Moms share school concerts as they happen, annoying friends share their food updates, and you probably get to see a lot of babies.
Regardless of how you use the live function, it’s nice to have another option if you’re someone who uses Instagram more than any other platform.
And while Facebook gives the option to save the live video after it ends, it looks like Instagram, at least for now, will have that video disappear from your feed as soon as it’s complete. That’s a nice feature if you don’t want what you’re streaming to save, but can be frustrating if you record some really good content. We’ll have to see how that option plays out in upcoming updates.
It’s easy to go live — just swipe right from feed to open the camera, tap the “Start Live Video” button and start sharing for up to an hour. Your friends may get a notification when you go live so they can tune in. While you’re live, you can pin a comment for everyone to see or turn comments off altogether. When you’re done, your live story immediately disappears from the app so you can feel more comfortable sharing anything, anytime. Source: Instagram
