Allentown Rescue Mission’s “Thanks for Giving” Drive Returns Nov. 8, with Meal Match Challenge

Posted On October 15, 2025 By lvwithlove In Community News /

The Allentown Rescue Mission will host its annual Thanks for Giving Food & Supplies Drive on Saturday, November 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., marking the nonprofit’s 125th year of service. Donations of non-perishable food and essential supplies will be accepted at both Josh Early Candies locations in Allentown and Bethlehem.

Boxing great and Lehigh Valley native Larry Holmes will greet donors at the Allentown Josh Early Candies from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. IHeartRadio’s Mike Mittman will broadcast on site from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., while Cumulus Radio personalities appear at the Bethlehem location.

Store addresses: 4640 Tilghman Street, Allentown, and 3620 Nazareth Pike, Bethlehem.

As part of the drive, the Mission’s Meal Match Challenge will double all gifts made between October 15 and November 30 to help purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy. To participate, contact Marlena at 610-740-5500 x325.

Founded in 1900, the Allentown Rescue Mission operates a 145-bed shelter, a faith-based residential life skills program, and the Clean Team Workforce, which employs men at wages above Pennsylvania’s minimum to help them save for independent living. In a typical year, the Mission shelters nearly 1,000 men and serves more than 60,000 meals.

How to help: Drop off items at either Josh Early Candies location on Nov. 8, or give to the Meal Match Challenge to maximize your impact this holiday season.
