Lehigh Valley with Love summer intern Caroline Jack from Lehigh University recently visited Shankweiler’s Drive-In for her first drive-in movie experience, catching Toy Story 5 with friends and sharing the night with us.
For anyone who has not been, Shankweiler’s is one of the Lehigh Valley’s true summer staples. Opened in 1934, it is recognized as the oldest operating drive-in theater in the world, and it entered a new chapter in 2022 when Matthew McClanahan and Lauren McChesney purchased the historic property and helped carry it forward for a new generation of moviegoers.
Thank you to Shankweiler’s for supporting our Summer Internship Program. Through the program, Lehigh Valley with Love is working with local Lehigh Valley businesses to help pay interns directly for their projects while giving them real-world experience creating content out in the community.
If you have never been to Shankweiler’s, now is a good time to go. It is a fun local experience, a piece of movie history, and a great way to spend a summer night in the Lehigh Valley.
