Like many older homes in the Lehigh Valley, our house has a slate roof. It adds a lot of character, but it also needs the right kind of care. When we noticed a few slate pieces had come loose, we put out a call on Facebook asking for local roofer recommendations.
The community came through with a ton of helpful suggestions, and Ken Malarik from Condition One Commercial stopped by to help us out.

Ken shared that Condition One Commercial is a local Bethlehem-area roofing contractor that works on roofing, siding, interior projects, and slate roof repair. He also explained that many slate roofs in the area are on older homes from the early 1900s and can last for generations, sometimes 70, 80, or even 100 years, but they still need regular maintenance.
It was a great reminder that supporting local often starts with simply asking your neighbors. Thanks to everyone who commented on our original Facebook post and shared recommendations, and thanks to Ken and Condition One Commercial for coming out, helping us, and sharing some helpful insight about slate roofs.
