The American Association of University Women Easton Branch has awarded scholarships to four local graduating seniors and one memorial scholarship recipient as the organization celebrates its 100th year of service to the community.
The scholarships were presented at the branch’s annual May meeting. Recipients were selected by the branch scholarship committee based on academic excellence and financial need.
This year’s student scholarship recipients are Valentina Gordon Bermos and Leila Gamboa of Phillipsburg High School, Samantha Cheevers of Bangor Area High School, and Allisandra German of Pen Argyl High School. The students have been accepted to fully accredited two- or four-year colleges or universities.

The branch also awarded its Memorial Scholarship to Georgina Nassar, a pharmacy technician from Syria whose college education was interrupted. Nassar plans to use the scholarship to pursue a degree in dentistry.
AAUW is a national organization focused on equity in higher education and women’s economic empowerment. Founded in 1881, the organization has supported access and opportunity for women through research, advocacy, philanthropy, and scholarships.
The Easton Branch’s centennial marks 100 years of community service and continued support for local students pursuing higher education.
