“Rooted,” a 75-minute documentary about Bethlehem’s arts community, will make its broadcast debut on WLVT-TV PBS39 on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 7 p.m.
The film spotlights Godfrey Daniels Folk Music Club, Mock Turtle Marionette Theatre, Touchstone Theatre, and The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, drawing from more than 200 hours of interviews and archival material to trace 50 years of cultural growth.
The project was also the focus of a recent Lehigh Valley with Love Media podcast episode, in which host George Wacker spoke with Bill George (Touchstone Theatre), Doug Roysdon (Mock Turtle Marionette Theatre), and Dave Fry (Godfrey Daniels Folk Music Club) about the making of the film and its legacy. Following a June premiere at the SouthSide Film Festival, “Rooted” screened at the Newark International Film Festival in September, where it was nominated for Best Documentary, and recently earned second place for Documentary Feature at the Bare Bones Music Doc Script Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma (November 5–15, 2025).
Narration by Anisa George connects the community’s story with seven tree-planting ceremonies featured in the film; John Gorka’s “Branching Out” serves as a thematic thread.
