JuxtaHub Opens New Ceramics Studio in Emmaus, Expanding Creative Opportunities

Posted On October 8, 2025 By lvwithlove In Community News /

JuxtaHub, the Emmaus-based arts and innovation center, is launching a new 2,200-square-foot ceramics studio at 375 S. 10th Street later this month. The studio will debut with free public demonstrations during JuxtaHub’s monthly JuxTuesday event on October 14, followed by the start of ceramics classes the week of October 20.

The initiative reflects JuxtaHub’s mission to connect art and technology through collaboration. “By integrating our Convergence Makerspace tools like 3D printers and laser cutters with traditional ceramics, we’re expanding what’s possible for artists,” said John Oetting, JuxtaHub’s VP of Programming.

The studio will feature instruction from two of the Lehigh Valley’s most respected ceramic artists, Deb Slahta and Lisa Caruso. Both will lead demonstrations during the October JuxTuesday event from 6–8 p.m.

Deb Slahta, a resident artist at JuxtaHub and former Banana Factory artist, will teach Adventures in Wheelthrowing from October 21–December 18, offering classes for all skill levels.

Lisa Caruso, who taught ceramics at Emmaus High School for 24 years, will lead Ceramics for Beginners from October 22–December 17, focusing on handbuilding and wheelthrowing techniques.

JuxtaHub members receive discounted registration fees, and early enrollment is encouraged as space is limited. More details and registration are available at juxtahub.activityreg.com/Ceramics. The building is open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 3–8 p.m.

Founded in 2019, JuxtaHub is home to 20 resident artists and a makerspace that blends art and innovation. The organization plans to launch a children’s summer camp in 2026.
