On Friday, April 11, Sara Austin will host Cookie Quest for Kids’ Cancer, a ticketed scavenger hunt and cookie party designed to raise money for childhood cancer research. Participants will follow clues, visit local landmarks using their own transportation, and finish the event at the Forks Fire Station for a cookie party, raffle, and prizes for the top finishers.
Tickets are $10 for children and $15 for adults.

Austin, a Forks Township resident and community outreach coordinator for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, is also the mother of Ben, a two-time childhood cancer survivor. In a family story shared by the organization, Austin says Ben was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor at age 3½, later relapsed, and is now thriving years after treatment.
That experience is a big part of why this event matters. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer funds research for new, improved, and less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer, which the organization describes as the number one disease killer of children in the U.S.
Austin has already been building momentum for the cause in the Lehigh Valley through events including “Cookies in the Christmas City” in Bethlehem and the #superheroesforbenny stand in Forks. Cookie Quest for Kids’ Cancer is the next step in bringing more local attention, support, and funding to the fight against childhood cancer.
For those looking to support a meaningful local event with a larger impact, this is a good place to start.
