All Aboard the Bethlehem Bike Train: Help Move 400 Bikes to CAT’s New Downtown Location on December 6

Help Move 400 Bikes to CAT’s New Downtown Home on December 6!

Bethlehem’s Coalition for Appropriate Transportation (CAT) is calling on volunteers to join a unique “walking bike train” event on Saturday, December 6, at 10 a.m. The community will help move 400 bicycles from CAT’s current location at 1935 W Broad Street to its new home at 33 W Walnut Street, near the Walnut Street Parking Garage in downtown Bethlehem.

Volunteers will walk the bikes (each with tires partially inflated for easy rolling) about two miles down Broad Street to the new site. The event promises to be a fun, high-energy community effort and a great photo opportunity.

Organizers hope for at least 100 volunteers to make a significant dent in the bike relocation. The journey is expected to take about 40–60 minutes. Youth under 14 should be accompanied by a parent.

Participants can easily return to the starting point by riding LANTA buses (Blue, Green, 102, or 107 routes), which stop near both CAT locations. Bus fare is $2 for a three-hour pass, and CAT can provide passes upon request.

Route Overview:

  • Start at 1935 W Broad St

  • Walk east on Broad Street sidewalk

  • Turn right on Guetter St

  • Turn left on W Walnut St to reach 33 W Walnut St

With hundreds of bikes and dozens of helping hands, CAT’s moving day will be a rolling celebration of community spirit and sustainable transportation.
