Lehigh Valley progressive rock band Midsummer has released a new music video for “Crashing Walls,” the lead single from its debut EP, Tales of the Time Traveler, Vol. 2. The video, created with Lehigh Valley independent production company Jarden Films, premiered Monday, June 8!
“This daydream ends, I face reality time…”
That lyric sits at the center of “Crashing Walls,” a song tied closely to the time-travel concept that has shaped Midsummer’s return. The band describes the video as a Lehigh Valley collaboration, with Jarden Films building a time-twisting story around two lovers in turmoil while the band moves through its own distinct timeline.
Midsummer’s story goes back much further than its current release cycle. The band first formed in the late 1980s, then re-emerged in 2023 with new energy around songs written decades earlier. Its official bio calls the group “a project 35+ years in the making,” rooted in original progressive rock and complex rock covers.
That history gives Tales of the Time Traveler, Vol. 2 a built-in sense of return. The five-song EP was released in 2024 and was recorded the project at Spectra Sound in Quakertown, with older material reshaped by the current lineup.
Today’s Midsummer includes original members Joe Held on guitar and Shawn Semmel on drums, joined by Jamie Fiore on bass, Frank Abbadessa on keyboard, and Ben Youngerman on vocals.
For “Crashing Walls,” Midsummer teamed with Jarden Films, an independent film production company whose recent work includes Shiver, House Rules, Torments, and Winters End, with several projects listed as being on the festival circuit.
Crashing Walls appears on Midsummer’s debut EP, Tales of the Time Traveler, Vol. 2, available now on streaming platforms. Physical CDs are also available at Compact Disc Center in Bethlehem.
