Supporting Tomorrow’s Workforce: Join BAVTS & Bethlehem Rotary at “A Nite at the Races”

Posted On September 26, 2025 By lvwithlove In Community News /

The Bridges Foundation, the nonprofit partner of the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School (BAVTS), helps local students pursue high-demand careers by funding scholarships, tools, and special programs. For more than 26 years, the foundation has worked alongside BAVTS to expand opportunities for students.

BAVTS itself serves about 1,300 students from the Bethlehem Area, Northampton, and Saucon Valley school districts. Students split their time between their home high schools and the BAVTS campus, where they gain hands-on experience across 27 different programs in seven career clusters. The school also offers dual enrollment options, professional certifications, and unique learning experiences such as a student-run food truck.

A Rotary Nite at the Races

Date & Time: Friday, October 10, 2025, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Location: DeSales University, Center Valley, PA

Guests will enjoy an interactive “horse racing night” experience. Each ticket comes with Derby Bucks to place bets on virtual horse races shown on screen. Winners can use their Derby Bucks for more bets or raffle tickets. The crowd energy is part of the fun, with plenty of cheering for favorite horses.

The evening also includes:

  • Appetizers and desserts

  • Open bar option

  • Basket raffles and silent auction

  • A Derby hat contest

  • Horse sponsorships (name a horse and win a bottle of bourbon if it places first)

Ticketing & Sponsorships

  • Tickets: $75 without bar, $100 with open bar

  • Horse sponsorships: $50 — includes naming rights and a bourbon prize if your horse wins

  • Sponsorship levels: From $250 to $5,000, offering tickets, marketing exposure, and Derby Bucks

Proceeds benefit both the Bridges Foundation, advancing BAVTS students’ training and scholarships, and the Bethlehem Rotary Foundation, which funds educational and charitable projects across the community.

Tickets, sponsorships, and horse naming can be arranged through the Bethlehem Rotary Club’s event page. For sponsorships or donations, contact Dana Huber at 610-866-8013 ext. 119. Raffle baskets and auction items will be accepted through October 6, 2025.
