Instagram Increases Video Length, Brings Back Multiple Video Clips

Posted On March 30, 2016 By lvwithlove In Blog /

While some Instagram users are still mad that the social media service may be changing up its algorithm to bring them pictures and videos they may have missed, others are rejoicing over longer videos.

Instagram recently announced that the platform will push video length up from 15 seconds to 60 seconds and will also allow iOS users to use multiple clips from their camera roll for an individual video.

So #Instagram now allows 60 seconds of video. That's a game changer for filmmakers. I like the move. ??

What does this mean? Well, it is going to allow for increased length of messages from your friends and companies looking to become “your friends.” This isn’t necessarily a bad thing since the 15 second limit can sometimes be constraining even for the most concise of messages.

The longer video option is available for most Instagram users right now with the iOS multi-clip option coming out this week.

In the last six months, the time people spent watching video on Instagram increased by more than 40 percent. As part of our continued commitment to video, you’ll soon have the flexibility to tell your story in up to 60 seconds. This video features members of the incredible community of emerging video creators on Instagram. And longer videos also mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez (instagram.com/selenagomez) hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s (instagram.com/bretmanrock) latest makeup tutorial. For iOS, we’re also bringing back the ability to make videos out of multiple clips from your camera roll.
