Allentown’s own Amanda Seyfried gave her hometown a national-TV moment on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, joining Colbert for his “Community Calendar” segment, where he highlights real events from a guest’s hometown.
Colbert opened by teasing local history, asking Seyfried if the Liberty Bell was once hidden in a church on West Hamilton Street. Then the two launched into a fast-paced rundown of real listings from around Allentown and the greater Lehigh County area, with jokes that leaned hard into local flavor.
- Colonial Pizza Easton (All-You-Can-Eat Pasta, Wednesdays): Colbert pointed out the deal isn’t available to go, then added: “That pasta’s not going anywhere, and once you eat all you can, neither will you.”
- Stony Run Winery (pirate-themed murder mystery, Jan. 16): “As always, the killer is scurvy.”
- Tipsy’s Bar and Lounge (speed dating ages 50–60, Jan. 21): “So we’re using the word ‘speed’ generously.”
- Mary Ann Donut Kitchen (Fastnacht Day, Feb. 17): “May contain trace amounts of vegetable.”
- Allentown Library (magnetic bookmark workshop, Jan. 20): “We’re in the middle of a really long refrigerator.”
- Allentown Public Library (adult painting class, Jan. 27): “..Any adult who wants to change color.”
- Quakertown board game night (hosted by Noggle Funeral and Cremation Service, Jan. 16):“Great news for anyone who said, ‘Settlers of Catan would rather be dead.’”
- State Theatre in Easton (The Naked Magicians, Feb. 18): “Come for the jokes about a magic wand. Stay to see where they pull a rabbit out of.”
