Instagram Testing Removal of Viewing Amount of Likes

“Likes” will go down in history as one of the most sought after abstract items of all time.

Whether it’s your small business getting more likes on a post than ever before, or the latest Instagram model surpassing 4 million likes and getting paid by a sponsor, the idea of social media “likes” is familiar to many.

5 Things NOT To Do on Your Business Instagram Account

Halfway through 2018, Instagram has become perhaps the number two most important social media account for most small businesses behind Facebook.

Why’s that? Well, while Facebook still has the overall user base advantage, Instagram is the current “hip” platform among millennials and those making purchasing decisions. I could go through a whole litany of reasons why Instagram’s current iteration is better than Snapchat for a small business (including ease of sharing content between platforms), but just trust me when I say it’s as close to a “must have” social media account as your business may ever see.

That being said, here are a few things NOT to do on Instagram that may be harming your current reach.

Instagram Adds New “Focus” Feature

The latest iPhone’s portrait mode has created a better selfie and Instagram wants to make sure that they get in on the party. Besides, what’s a good selfie if you have to see what’s going on behind you?

In all seriousness, Instagram’s latest “Focus” feature can create some fun, and better looking, photos to share with your friends.

Instagram Launches Automatic Spam and Offensive Comments Filter for Your Accounts

Spam is annoying, but, we always like to look at comments flooding beneath your pictures as a sign that you’re doing something right. I mean, people are taking notice of your content.

Of course, that superficial flattery really only lasts so long until you’re pulling out your hair over having to get rid of spammy or offensive comments.

Hey, Instagram to the rescue!

Instagram Adds Live Streaming Feature

Ready for another social media platform to “go live” from? Instagram recently announced that it is rolling out a live streaming feature included in Version 10.2 as another way for users to share their experiences.

What was once seemingly a novelty, “going live” has become increasingly commonplace on platforms like Facebook. Moms share school concerts as they happen, annoying friends share their food updates, and you probably get to see a lot of babies.

Instagram’s New Updates Emulate Snapchat

Instagram will begin rolling out an update that will add some very Snapchat-like features in coming weeks.

Of course, Instagram isn’t saying publicly that they are copying one of Snapchat’s best features, but they are. And, hey, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. Social media platforms have always borrowed ideas from each other in an effort to stay relevant.

What Happens on the Internet in One Minute (AND WHY THAT MATTERS TO YOUR BUSINESS)

Social media trends are important because the easier it is for users to get involved, the easier it is for businesses to get them involved.

For example, if you’re in the retail space and your main demographic is women aged 35 to 55 years of age, Pinterest is going to be a good spot for you to share some of your product links. Why? Because women aged 35 to 55 years of age seem to enjoy Pinterest.

Instagram Increases Video Length, Brings Back Multiple Video Clips

While some Instagram users are still mad that the social media service may be changing up its algorithm to bring them pictures and videos they may have missed, others are rejoicing over longer videos.

Instagram recently announced that the platform will push video length up from 15 seconds to 60 seconds and will also allow iOS users to use multiple clips from their camera roll for an individual video.
