The Colony Meadery Wins Gold at Mazer Cup National Mead Competition
Lehigh Valley meadery earns high honors for second year in a row
Broomfield, Colorado – The Colony Meadery was awarded a gold and two bronze medals at The Mazer Cup, an international mead competition held this past weekend in Colorado.
The medals bring Colony Meadery’s lifetime Mazer Cup total to eight, with two golds, in only two years of competition.
The Allentown-based meadery took home awards in the following categories:
- Gold in Dessert Mead-Semi Sweet for their Favorite Child (flavored with raspberry and chipotle).
- Bronze in Varietal – Semi-Sweet for their Straight, No Chaser (made with orange blossom honey).
- Bronze in Metheglin – Dry for their Woofiedog (a hopped mead).
Colony Meadery also won five medals at last year’s Mazer Cup, five at the New Hampshire-based Mead Free or Die competition and three medals at Michigan Mead Cup. That’s a total of 16 medals in Colony Meadery’s short competition career.

The Colony Meadery opened at the Bridgeworks Enterprise Center on Harrison Street in Allentown in 2013. The Meadery released the first of its meads to the public in January 2014. The Meadery opened its second tasting room inside The Moravian Book Shop, the nation’s oldest, in Bethlehem in August 2015.
