Bethlehem Celebrates Walnut Week and the Opening of the Walnut Street Garage

Posted On October 28, 2025 By lvwithlove In Community News /

Bethlehem is ushering in the holiday season with Walnut Week, a community-wide celebration marking the grand opening of the new Walnut Street Garage in downtown Bethlehem. From November 17–21, the city will host a series of events highlighting accessibility, connection, and the festive spirit that defines the Christmas City.

The week begins on Monday, November 17 at 3:30 p.m. with a kickoff press conference at the new garage, where city officials and the Bethlehem Parking Authority will unveil new holiday lighting projects and seasonal initiatives.

On Tuesday, November 18, the Coalition for Appropriate Transportation (CAT) will distribute 100 refurbished bicycles to local families from 4 to 7 p.m. outside the garage.

Midweek brings The Rooftop Gathering: Oasis Preview Event on Wednesday, November 19 (12–1:30 p.m.), offering a free wellness experience atop the garage, featuring yoga, strength fusion, tea tastings, massages, and giveaways hosted by local wellness businesses.

The official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Walnut Street Garage takes place on Thursday, November 20 at 4 p.m., led by the City of Bethlehem, the Bethlehem Parking Authority, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Festivities conclude on Friday, November 21 with Walking on Walnut (5–7 p.m.), a street-wide celebration featuring local food, drinks, and special promotions from downtown merchants. Visitors are encouraged to park in the new garage and enjoy the first night of the Christmas City Village at the Sun Inn Courtyard.

Participating businesses include Steak & Steel Hibachi, McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub & Whiskey Bar, and The Tavern at the Sun Inn.
